Our Adventure Runs take place along the woodland trails and the beaches of Honeymoon Island State Park.
Both runs are on the woodland trails of north Honeymoon Island. The woodland trails are a combination of vehicle, trails grass covered areas, dirt trails, sandy trails, and muddy areas. Conditions will change depending on the weather. No part of the woodland trail course is planned to go through standing water, but the area around the water may be narrow.
The 5 mile event starts on the woodland trails continuing to the beach. The beach course is along the high water line. The beach portion is exposed to the wind and possibly blowing surf. Honeymoon Island beaches are a combination of rocky portions which vary with the tides and weather conditions, hard packed sand below the high tide water line, soft sand above the high water line, and constant erosion and rock movement. No part of the course is planned to be in the surf but tides and wind may push the surf or additional rocks onto the course. There are paths further inland to avoid the surf and rocks.
January average morning lows are usually in the low to mid 40's. January morning winds on the island average between 10 and 20 knots blowing off the Gulf.
